Constant changes

Constant changes

The most beautiful thing I discovered with photography is that it causes side effects. Since I am on the lookout for photo opportunities, I seem to see more. This picture is a recurring theme on this photoblog - Boston’s Back Bay as seen from Cambridge across the Charles River. I still amazes me that it never really looks the same! it is also my first try to make a panorama, using Hugin.

Boston night lights

Probably my favorite night photo theme. Not that making a photo of Boston from this perspective would be very original (there are plenty of them, even one more right here). I like it because the night sky is constantly changing and never looks the same. On the night I took this photo, the weather report said something about snow. In reality, however, only a thin layer of clouds passed by, glowing red from the reflected city lights.

A first try in night photography. I just bought a used Pentax M 50mm/f1.4 lens. I am very happy with the results and in this case even surprised how well the shake reduction mechanism of the Pentax K100D works, although I am sure that the picture would have turned out better with a tripod and lower ISO setting.

Update: In fact, now that I have a tripod, it really looks better with proper support!
